Hi,
Thanks for your inquiry about our property in Rainbow Bay. This property, which
directly overlooks the Atlantic, is located on Twin Beach Road at Block 8, Lot
15. The size of this lot is 9600 sq ft.
This really is a prize piece of property with great elevation and clear, fee
simple title. It is worthy of your vacation home! We urge you to travel down
there and see it for yourself. The reason that we feel it is so special is
because, in our opinion, the lot directly beneath it will probably never be
built on. Our reasoning is based on these factors the waterfront lot possesses:
Low elevation, unstable soil and risk of weather related problems to the
exterior and even interior of any structure built there. What this means is
that you would probably “in essence” be obtaining your own water front property
by purchasing our lot. We have already been contacted by a representative of
the owner of the lot above ours whom we believe is interested in our lot for the
exact same reason. I think his interest will increase as he gets closer to
completing his home and starts spending more time there.
We are asking $60,000, but would listen to any offer. There would be a 10%
discount for a cash purchase, which would bring cash price down to $54,000. I
have also worked out an amortization schedule, which would be based on a sales
price of $60,000.00 with a down payment of 20% leaving a balance of $48,000.
Payments would be $1149.42 per month for a period of 48 months. I will e-mail
the complete payment schedule should you decide to take this property.
Values will soar. We have recently heard about a new resort to be built on
Eleuthera, which should increase values all over the island. An underwater
hotel is also going to be built, which will be the finest underwater hotel in
the world. Beyond that, the island is just beautiful and extremely peaceful.
Our property overlooks the rocky beach. There is a path leading down to the
shore. Walk time to the closest sandy beach is about 3 minutes. Wonderful
sounds of the ocean can be heard, and scenes of the surf are dramatic. Remember
too, that this property is at a safe elevation of between 60 and 80 feet. This
means less maintenance. Structural decay occurs rapidly to homes that are
constantly enduring the spray from the ocean. Even appliances must be replaced
often. With duties, that could get to be expensive. Lastly, homes built on the
beach are more expensive to engineer and may endure severe damage when a
hurricane hits. This would not happen at the higher elevations.
Potable water is piped in from the north. Cisterns and wells provide good
quality water as well. Utilities are in the street. This property is located in
a subdivision. Association fees are $60.00 per year. That is right, I said
“per year”! Rainbow Bay is close to Surfers Beach, the best surfing in the
Bahamas. Wonderful diving and fishing are everywhere. Bonefish, Sailfish,
Marlin and Wahoo are just a few of the fighting fish you will find there.
Lobster is so plentiful, it is often used as bait.
There is an international airport located about 6 miles from Governor’s Harbour,
which is less than 10 miles from our lot and is the most developed of all the
towns or villages on the main island. Nearby is the wonderful cay called
Harbour Island where Pink Sands Beach is located.
The Bahamas attained its independence from England only about 30 years ago. As
such it is still very young in many ways. Eleuthera is one of the most
hauntingly beautiful of all the islands.
Eleuthera means freedom.
Eleuthera is 110 miles of white sand beaches, imposing cliffs, rolling hills and
quaint friendly villages. At one time it was an important agricultural and dairy
centre.
Capt William Sayle and a band of Puritan pilgrims, the Eleutherian Adventurers,
sought religious freedom when they landed on the island of Cigatoo in 1648 at
what is now Governor's Harbour. They renamed the island Eleuthera, the Greek
word for freedom.
Fellow Puritans in the then-Colony of Massachusetts aided the adventurers in
their struggle for survival. When the adventurers settled in and got back on
their feet, they sent a gift of rare braziletto wood to Harvard University. At
the time, it was the most valuable present ever received by the university.
When a shipwreck ended their exploration of the north tip of the island, the
Eleutherian Adventurers took refuge in Preacher's Cave, well worth a visit.
Off the north end of Eleuthera, a short ferry ride away, are two gems.
Spanish Wells is a prosperous crawfishing and fishing community. There is a
small museum where the seafaring residents' rich heritage and culture is on
display.
Harbour Island is best known for its three-mile pink sand beach. The Harbour
Island settlement of Dunmore Town dates back to the 18th century. It was once
the governor's summer home, second only to Nassau in importance.
Heading south from North Eleuthera you'll find a clutch of quaint villages,
including Current, Upper Bogue and Lower Bogue. The Glass Window Bridge
separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Bahama Banks, and North Eleuthera from
Central Eleuthera.
Gregory Town attracts world class surfers and rock star Lenny Kravitz.
Windermere Island, off the Atlantic shore, used to be popular with the rich and
royalty and is the subject of developer’s dreams. Governor's Harbour is the
island's largest and busiest town, Tarpum Bay is home to the creative, artsy
crowd, and Rock Sound offers comfortable facilities for visitors and, at one
time, a first class golf course at Cotton Bay.
A Pineapple Festival in June recalls the era when Eleuthera exported the world's
juiciest pineapples. The pineapple still symbolizes first-class hospitality, and
although production has faded in recent years the festival is celebrated each year.
