Subject: Beware of Barefoot Sailing
Message:
Hello,
We would like fellow travelers to know about our recent experience with
Barefoot Sailing in Nassau, Bahamas so as to avoid having a similar
experience. We will also be posting this email on every website where
Barefoot Sailing is recommended, as we had a terrible experience, and the
owner, Eryn, was very unprofessional and unapologetic.
We had booked Barefoot Sailing for a privately chartered sunset champagne
cruise for our wedding guests. When it started to rain heavily 30 minutes
after leaving the harbor, instead of offering to go back and reschedule our
pre-paid 2 hour cruise, the captain put us in the cabin below. He then
proceeded to stop the boat and keep us at a stand still in the thunderstorm
for the remainder of our pre-paid 2 hour "sailing" excursion. When our guests
started to become angry and wanted to get off the boat, one of our guests put
her shoes on (she was standing at the bottom of the ladder waiting to get out
of the hot, humid cabin where we had been trapped for over an hour). The
captain proceeded to yell at her to the point where she was crying, telling
her to take her shoes off due to the hardwood floors. This was a wedding
guest, and this was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional.
When we called the next day to get a partial refund, the owner, Eryn, told me
that the captain claimed we scratched his floors up and that she would need to
check it out. (Again, the guest who had her shoes on was standing in one
place, just waiting to go up the ladder, and the captain had already berated
her and inspected the floor while we were there.) We had asked the owner,
Eryn, to call us back as soon as possible so we could come to a fair
agreement. When we hadn't heard back in a few days, we called back. This is
when Eryn, the owner, ended the conversation unprofessionally with no regard
for the customer. They had already been paid, and that's all she cared about.
We will be sharing our story with every opportunity we have because we are
disgusted that we paid $800 to 1. not have the services we had agreed on and
2. to be treated in the manner we were.
