Nassau is certainly no worse than any other US city or caribbean island.

Crime is an undeniable problem, but no more so than any other place.
Tourist areas are very safe, and well policed. If you use common sense, and
don't go off with strangers, or party 'til you pass out on the beach, you'll
be fine.

You should be as careful as you would be in any other city that you would
visit.

Oh.. and just in case you are wondering.. when bahamians visit miami for
shopping, they are robbed, mugged, raped and murdered. Bahamians are targeted
in these shopping areas, since it's known that they are carrying plenty money.
