: My family of four and and my parents will be traveling to Freeport/Lucaya and
will be staying at Pelican
: Bay Resort. Is there any need for us to rent a car for the week or should we
rely on cabs? We will have two
: children under the age of 5, but we don't mind the walk.

: Thanks!
Not really. Pelican Bay is at Port Lucaya Marketplace and right across the
street from Our Lucaya hotel/casino and the beach. All the major
activities/tours are at the marketplace. Everything is within 2 minute walk.
If you want to go to the International Bazaar, you can ride the jitney (bus)
for $1.
If you want to explore the islaned, you might considder a 3 day rental in the
middle of the week to explore the island some. there are some places that you
can get to much easier with a rental car and it is cheaper to rent a car than
take a tour. For example, the best snorkeling on the island is Paradise cove.
A tour is $30-$35/person. If you drive theyre, you can snorkel for $5 with
your own equipment or $10 with their equipment. For 3-4 people, the savings
will pay for 2-3 days car rental. also, a car will allow you to visit Garden
of the Groves, Lucayan national park and Gold Rock Beach, and some other out of
the way places.
I suggest, spending 2 days relaxing and enjoying, rent a car for 2-3 days if
you want to explore the island some, then finish the trip enjoying and
relaxing.
