Hi DT,
An addendum to what I posted above.
The three properties share THREE restaurants but they are often closed and the
food is NOT all that great - I would suggest that you eat at Port Lucaya
Marketplace or at Our Lucaya which have more of a variety of restaurants.
I will mention the restaurants at the Taino/Ritz properties though:
1) SEAVIEW TERRACE
(serving breakfast, lunch and dinner)
It overlooks the beach....to enter this outdoor patio restaurant, just enter
the doorway for Taino's By the Sea Restaurant and the waiter/waitress will show
you a table. I have eaten a few times here and thought it was okay and
reasonably priced. I would RECOMMEND the Jumbo shrimp with peas n'rice which is
about $17.95 and I would also RECOMMEND the Taino Club Sandwich which is about
$8.95.
2) TAINO'S BY THE SEA
Sometimes it is ONLY OPEN on Saturday nights or for special functions during
quieter season. But I expect that when it is busier, it is open a bit more
often. It is located between the Ritz Beach Resort and the Taino Beach Resort
and has a big sign outside. The "chateaubriand for two" is recommended. Prices
are expensive though.
3) PIRATES OF THE BEACH
This restaurant and bar looks like a pirate shipwreck....kind of neat, with a
pirate theme, located at the end of the beach. There's a full service bar. Try
the coconut daiquiri! You can check out the second floor patio deck where there
is seating as well (nice to take photos from there. The Pirates Burger is good
but "spicy" and has a slice of cheese, bacon, mushrooms, onions, lettuce,
tomato and shoestring french fries. Please note that it is NOT always open.
Pirates of the Bahamas has a Barbeque Bonfire BEACH PARTY which is okay. It is
usually held Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday night from 5-8pm (October to April)
and 6pm - 9pm (April to October). Keep in mind that days and prices are subject
to change so it's best to check first. I believe the cost is approximately $45
per adult and approximately $35 per child under 12 - the cost includes a buffet
dinner of bbq chicken, ribs, peas 'n rice, corn on the cob, cole slaw and sweet
bread, unlimited Bahama Mamas, non-alcoholic fruit punch & a live band and a
Junkanoo presentation. The food is just so-so, not great. They sometimes run
out of food quickly if there are too many people...so it's best to get there
early.
best regards
Carrie

: Your sympatico.ca email address indicates to me that you are in Canada. I,

: There are 4 properties there....the Ritz Beach Resort (built in the 90’s),
the

: There are often complaints about the Ritz & Taino properties. They are
: okay....but you must do your own research, check out the message boards, and
: understand exactly what you will be getting by staying there. The biggest
: problem is the service from staff. The staff has been reported to be less
: friendly and less cooperative than they should be. It is important to note
that
: you need to be self-sufficient for a stay here and NOT need the service of
the

: emphasize that the attitude of the staff is EXTREMELY laid back and,
obviously,
: this affects the maintenance of the facility. If you're well prepared in

: There is NOTHING much to do other than the nice beach and TERRIFIC POOL which
