We recently attended our son's wedding on this island. The night after the
wedding, robbers entered wedding guests' rooms at both Stella Maris Resort and
Cape Santa Maria Resort and stole money and jewelry - WHILE PEOPLE SLEPT just a
few feet away. Since keys are not issued at either of these resorts, a feeling
of false security sets in which is obviously very dangerous. When checking in,
we were told that there is no crime on the island and there is no need for keys.
BEWARE! If you leave your room, use your in-room safe, or use the resort's
safe, and at night - LOCK YOUR DOORS. If your door locks don't work - MOVE!
Better yet, LEAVE!
