Eleuthera is 110 miles long, and one of the largest Bahamian out islands, but
it's very narrow, probably not more than a mile or so wide. Queens highway
goes the length of the island, and if you are staying near Govenours Harbour
there is a very nice beach that used to be the Club Med Beach, and you should
have it all to yourself.
On the carribean side there are also several beaches in the area, and S.
Palmetto Point has a nice beach.
There is a bit of shopping GH and even a large grocery store, so you might
stock up on munchies for your room.
Not much on Eleuthera is organized yet, it's still a very laid back island and
not one of the big tourist destinations just yet.
If you want to go to HI you will need to rent a car, it's at least an hour
drive from GH to the ferry dock over to HI. Remember to drive on the left.
Valentine's on HI is the dive shop and they do snorkle trips and dive trips
daily. They also have canoe rentals for the harbour area.
There are several good restaurants on island and a bit of shopping.
HOpe you have a great time and let us know about the Duck Inn.
