Message:
: : : Greetings from Miane< we have been to Eleuthera several times and love
it!
: we
: : : are looking to go to either Cat or Long Island? We love to snorkel and
: : bonefish
: : : -drink rum and eat conch. We usually rent a house for the week. Any ideas
: : would
: : : be greatly appreciated. thanx!!
: :
: : If you are interested in snorkeling and bonefishing you might want to try
: : Andros. There is a villa right on the Ocean in Fresh Creek called Coakley
: : House www.coakleyhouse.com. Central Andros has excellent bonefishing and
the
: : 3rd largest barrier reef in the world. Consequently, the have great scuba
: : diving and snorkeling. Also, there is plenty of rum and conch, but that
goes
: : without saying on all of the family islands ...
:
: We've been to Cat Island twice, and will be heading back again in January.
: We've also been to Eleuthera. There's a big difference between the two.
: I love to bonefish also. I found the bone fishing to be much better on Cat.
The
: fish see very little pressure, and as a result, are much easier to take.
: However, Cat does not have the vast, endless flats found on other Bahamian
: island. But rather small flats and mangroves located within the many creek
and
: estuary system on the island.
: Unlike Eleuthera, Cat is very remote. Nothing to do other than bonefish, hang
: out on deserted beaches, swim, etc. Also, it merits mentioning that the
rental
: options on Cat are limited.
: However, just like most of the Bahamas, the local people are wonderful. Very
: helpful, and easy to get along with. There is virtually no crime on Cat
either.

Bob, My wife & I will be there in January for two weeks to bonefish & enjoy the
water. We also have been to Eleuthera 3 times, as well as many other Bahama
Islands. We like to try new places so decided to try Cat Island. What
suggestions do you have on which parts of the island are best for bonefish? We
are renting a house that comes with a vehicle. We like fishing on our own but
may consider a guide for a few days? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,
Mike & Carole Sampson
