BULLSHIT CARTWRIGHTS POSTINGS
Hello Bahamas Internet:
this email is intended for those who wish to get true information about the
Bahamas, and, more specifically, Eleuthera.
Here is a copy of the posting I put on the eleu.net site which pretty well
explains the situation:
__________________________________________________
Doug:
As administrator of www.eleu.net, I am getting tired of deleting your phony
postings regarding Cartwrights.
I am not saying Cartwright's is not a nice place; and you do give valuable
input on Eleuthera, and you are welcome to, hopefully, continue to do so on
eleu.net.
But, please stop with the phony "recommendations" about Cartwrights.
If you check on the "Bahamas General" newsgroup,
http://www.bahamas-mon.com/bahamaforum/general/index.html
they list the IP addresses of all the contributors. If you notice, the glowing
reports about Cartwrights are all the same as yours.
I am attaching a file that show it.

Subject: Cartwright's Cottages , Eleuthera Trip 2002
Thanks to all in Eleuthera for the warm hospitality and friendship that you
recv'd me throughout my stay in Tarpum Bay at Cartwright's Cottages. Thank you
so much for the dinner Sunday night as I was famished. I had a great time
during my vacation in Eleuthera as I have been able to relax and rest like
never before at your cottages by the sea.
The food at Worker's House Cafe in Governor's Harbour is delicious. Their conch
burger is the best I have ever tasted(ask the chef if he's preparing them on a
particular day). Go down to the dock on Bay Street(a 5 minute walk from the
cottages) and buy some fish from the local fisherman. Its very fresh and the
locals are friendly. I hope to return very soon someday to enjoy the beauty of
your island, but more so to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Tarpum Bay.
Thanks again for a great vacation! Anupam Mohanty New York, USA

Cartwright's Cottages in Tarpum Bay Eleuthera Bahamas has been our home for the
past 6 months and Mrs. Cartwright and her family and our excellent island tip
guide, Doug were most accommodating and the island has welcomed us with many
frienships. We even survived Hurricane Michelle in October 2001 and were taken
to a safe home away from the sea. The cottage is very sound and was only
missing some few roof shingles and had a bit of water after the storm. We were
back in the cottage in 3 days.
We visited 3 churches whose members welcomed us warmly. We felt safe as we
walked both in the early am and in the evenings around the settlement and the
local children dropped by to visit us often.
Much of our time was spent in Tarpum Bay without a car. At times we rented a
car to explore the beautiful island.
Tarpum Bay features:
Fresh fish at the dock almost every day.
Beach in the settlement often has nice shells
Swimming in front of the cottages(big plus).
Walks around the cottages have very intertsting plantlife.
Some great beaches to explore include, Winding Bay Beach(Tarpum Bay), Islandia
Beach,Lighthouse Beach, Ten Bay Beach, Double Bay, and Club Med Beach.
We were able to cook most of our meals at the cottage and 3 nearby food stores
had almost everything we needed. We also had a few good restaurants nearby,
Bertha's Ribs Barbies and the Galaxy Bar were clsoe by.We hope to return in
June for yet another great vacation in Eleuthera. Hazel

HI Jesse, Eleuthera is the island to relax on without a lot of hustle and
bustle. No casinos or big hotels here. Tarpum Bay is the place to stay and
Cartwright's Cottages offers great accommodations by the sea. Restaurants and
grogery shops are a 5 minute walk into town. Snorkel and swimming and fishing
can be done right at the cottages I'll send you details via email. Email me for

After 2 days of travelling b/c of overbooked airplanes, we finally made it to
this beautiful island. We were happy to stay here in this very cosy and nice
cottage for our vacation. Thanks to Cartwright's Cottages for making us feel at
home and for a special sightseeing tour of the Ocean Hole in Rock Sound where
the fish were jumping out of the water for tiny treats of bread and crackers.
To enjoy the best ribs- you should go to Bertha's - a 5 minute walk from the
cottages. Never had Cracked Conch?? Then go to Runaway Bay at Palmetto Point!
Yummy!
Must SEE....the Glass Window Bridge!! Wild Atlantic meets calm Caribbean.
Going to Harbour Island is a day trip but it's worth seeing!! It's true: there
ARE Pink Beaches! Want to try a different fruit? Try the native sugar
apple..very sweet and juicy.
Our vacation to Tarpum Bay over New Years was definitely one of the most unique
holidays ever. Ellen & Steffen from Germany

We had a great vacation at Cartwright's Cottages from Jan 9th-14th.We were able
to go fishing and skin diving down at the Island school at Cape Eleuthera. Half
Sound Beach at the end of Half Sound road was the best snorkeling I have ever
seen. Drive slow on Half sound road as there are many potholes and branches in
the area. The Fresh Crawish(lobster tails) we caught and ate everyday was the
best. If you dont go fishing, you can buy it daily from the travelers rest dock
area just a short walk from the cottags. The cottages were always clean and the
home made bread was much appreciated. We hope to return again soon. Robert..

To the Cartwrights and Doug,,thanks for everything. All the drives and
experiences around the island and getting a true feel of real island life was
because they shared so much.. They gave us a great welcome(bread, flowers,
fruit and more) and we didn't want to say goodbye--great memories and "friends"
we take with us back home. A wonderful cottage, super people, and an awesome

We planned to spend one week on Eleuthera in Tarpum Bay, before we continue or
trip to Exuma. The weather has been gorgeous , the water superb and
Cartwright's Cottages were wonderful. I went swimming in front of the cottages
almost everyday. We were also provided with sightseeing tours to the Ocean Hole
in Rock Sound and the luxurious rental homes of Winday Bay. We loved the sun,
the water, our hostess, Mrs.Cartwright, the fresh home made bread, and above
all, the pretty cottages by the sea. They turned our vacation into a wonderful
experience and we could not have found a better and safer harbour. With our
best regards,,,,Jorg and Brigit Jansen Los Alamos NM

Message: While I realize this may not be the best time to talk about a
vacation, I had to post what a wonderful time I had recently in the Bahamas. I
was looking for a quiet getaway and I found it on the island of Eleuthera.
Eleuthera is an 110 mile stretch of pure heaven! I stayed at Cartwright's
Cottages in Tarpum Bay. Talk about relaxing and refreshing! The view outside my
kitchen window every morning was of the sun rising over the calm, aqua-blue
Carribean Ocean! Mrs. Iris Cartwright is the nicest woman and hostess that I
ever met.
For all those folks that like to go to New Jersey to the beach, spend one week
in Eleuthera and you'll never want to go back to the Jersey Shore again! One of
my favorite beaches(as there are several) is Ten Bay Beach. Not only does the
beach have powdery soft, white sand, you can go to the beach any time of the
day and have it practically all to yourself! Believe me you won't find that in
Jersey! I also suggest that you plan a day trip to Harbour Island and get a
glimpse of pink sand (that's right the sand is pink!) and what the Atlantic
Ocean is supposed to look like.
The people on the island are friendly, every where you go and always greet you
with a smile and say hello. So don't be afraid to be friendly when you go
there.
The food is outstanding! My favorite resturant is Runaway Bay. Cracked conch is
one of the major dishes in Eleuthera and nobody does it better than Harriet at
Runaway Bay and Marina in Palmetto Point! It melts in you mouth! And if you
decide to sit out on the veranda at Runaway Bay, you will enjoy one of the most
breathtaking views of the island ever. To find a good Strawberry Daquiri go to
the Sunset Inn in Governor's Harbour.
Just a few tips: Be sure to bring sneakers or comfortable shoes as many of the
island beaches are off-road and require a short walk.
You want to feed the pigeons, well you won't find too many in Eleuthera,
however go to the Ocean Hole in Rock Sound, bring some bread and feed the fish!
You get a kick watching them perform aquatic acrobatics as they fight for their
lunch!
Also you will definitely need to rent a car while on the island. Your best bet
is to rent a van or some sort of vehicle with four-wheel drive.
Ladies, the island is casual, so pack light and forget about makeup (no one's
looking anyway).
There is a lot of undeveloped land in Eleuthera, so for those "snowbirds" that
are looking to build their vacation dream house, you might want to consider
Eleuthera.
As I said I had a wonderful time at Cartwright's Cottages and Doug was a
wonderful tour guide . His email tips prepeared me for my trip before I arrive-
For reservations call 242-334-4215, or e-mail cartwrights@hotmail.com. Ask for
the Cartwrights or Doug, they can tell you everything you need to know to have
a great vacation in Eleuthera. Wanda
