Hi there
I can tell you that it can be quite difficult to get a work permit to live and
work in The Bahamas, especially in today's economy, and doubly if you want to
work for yourself. You will need to form a company, more than likely, with a
Bahamian partner, who will have to own 51% of the company. However, as far as
I know (not a lawyer by the way), you can have a law office here hold the 51%
which is a safer bet than depending on one person that you hardly know. I
think you can check out a couple of the following law firms, they can tell you
more: Graham Thompson & Co.; McKinney, Bancroft & Hughes; Paul King &
Associates; or Lowell Mortimer & Co. You can find their contact info using the
Bahamian search engine www.bahamaslocal.com.
Hope that helps, and good luck. Of course, if it works out, I have a series 7
license and 7 years banking experience offshore and would love to move into the
hedge fund arena. :-)
Good luck to you.
