Best to get a job with a bank/insurance company or other professional business
in your country that have offices in the bahamas. Otherwise it's a hard sell.
Jobs in the bahamas must be offered to bahamians first.. then, if there are no
qualified bahamians, they can offer a job to an outsider. A work permit for a
professional can cost thousands of dollars. Your job is for a specific period
of time, and you're expected to train a bahamian while at your post. Once a
bahamaian becomes available.. you are repatriated back to your homeland.
Your work permit is for a particular job.. and not transferable. And you may
NOT apply for a new permit while living in the bahamas.
A tricky situation for someone who is uprooting his family. It could be quite
temporary..
To relocate and get residence status.. you must invest US$500,000 into the
bahamas in the form of property or business venture..
